NUS BBA

BBA Academic Programmes

Our School has offered the revised undergraduate curriculum since August 2010. One of the revisions made to the undergraduate curriculum is the inclusion of non-compulsory Independent Study Modules (ISMs). These modules provide the opportunity for students to pursue an in-depth study of a Business topic/issue and/or an area of specialization independently, but under the close supervision and guidance of an instructor.

Here are the lists of ISMs available:

BIS3001 Independent Study Module in Business (2 or 4mcs)

Business is a multi-dimensional field. Knowledge and skills can and should be acquired from various sources and through various forms and means. Oftentimes, a certain in-depth direction of investigation may be fruitful, but due to lack of comparable interests among peers and the lack of resources to launch new modules, such interests and needs of students cannot be met.

Independent Study Modules in Business aims to fulfil this learning gap in the curriculum. A one-to-one independent study program between a student (with interest in a certain Business topic or issue) and an instructor, very similar to the ISMs run by the USP, will grant the student the flexibility to conduct an in-depth investigation in the topic or issue of interest in a customized manner to optimize learning.

Independent Study Module in an Area of Specialization (4mcs)

Independent Study Modules (ISMs) in an area of specialization are for students with the requisite background to work closely with an instructor on a well-defined project in the respective specialization areas. Students will be exposed to individual-based research and report-writing while tackling a business issue under the guidance of the instructor.
